The European Centre for Press and Media Freedom (ECPMF) is a Leipzig-founded non-profit working to protect press and media freedom across Europe. Its work spans monitoring threats to journalists and media, fact-finding and research, practical and legal assistance—including support for journalists in exile—and funding cross-border investigative reporting. ECPMF also advocates for stronger protections through initiatives such as the Media Freedom Rapid Response and the European Anti-SLAPP Monitor.

Website Content Management Intern

Support ECPMF, a European press freedom organisation, with website migration, editing, SEO, and accessibility. Part-time, 25 hours per week, based in Leipzig with hybrid work or remote work within Germany.

Description

  • Move existing text, images, and documents into the new content management system
  • Edit and condense existing copy to improve clarity, accuracy, and web readability
  • Write new content for project pages, programme descriptions, and other website sections
  • Maintain consistent terminology, structure, and style throughout the website
  • Prepare content using basic accessibility and SEO practices, including headings, alt text, and descriptive links
  • Check links, metadata, and image rights, and monitor migration progress
  • Help the communications team reference the new website in newsletters and social media
  • Assess existing pages with the team and determine which to retain, revise, combine, or archive
  • Adapt content to the new website design and tone of voice

Requirements

  • Be enrolled at a German university
  • Excellent written English and German
  • Strong writing and editing ability with close attention to detail
  • Work in an organised, structured way with attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently
  • Interest in press freedom, journalism, human rights, democracy, or European civil society
  • Experience with WordPress or another CMS, basic HTML, SEO, web accessibility, or image-editing tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite
  • Previous editorial, journalism, communications, NGO, or student media experience is an asset
  • Availability for 25 hours per week
