Systems Engineer V, Defense Systems — Remote

Lead the definition, architecture, verification, and validation of complex defense systems at Voyager Technologies. This senior role focuses on MBSE, requirements engineering, technical risk, and cross-functional systems integration.

Description

  • Provide senior technical leadership for the definition, integration, and validation of complex defense systems
  • Serve as the program-level systems engineering authority, maintaining rigor and alignment with contractual and mission requirements
  • Coach junior and mid-level systems engineers while advancing knowledge sharing and process maturity
  • Own the definition and maintenance of system, subsystem, and interface requirements
  • Maintain requirements traceability, verification, and compliance with MDA standards
  • Direct the development and validation of system architectures
  • Develop and carry out system-level verification and validation plans
  • Establish functional allocations, interfaces, and compliance reporting across program tiers
  • Coordinate with propulsion, software, hardware, GNC, and test organizations
  • Identify, assess, and drive mitigation of system-level risks
  • Manage technical baselines and change-control activities
  • Contribute to formal reviews such as SRR, PDR, CDR, and TRR
  • Lead MBSE practices, including SysML modeling standards and digital engineering toolchain alignment
  • Act as the principal technical contact for customer and supplier organizations
  • Support requirements flowdown, verification tracking, and resolution of technical issues

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related STEM discipline plus 10 years of systems engineering or related experience; alternatively, a related STEM master’s degree plus 8 years of experience, 14 years of relevant experience without a degree, or a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong working knowledge of MDA processes, CDRL development, and systems engineering lifecycle standards
  • Expertise with requirements management platforms such as DOORS
  • Extensive knowledge of systems engineering lifecycle guidance, including the INCOSE SE Handbook and MIL-STD-499
  • Substantial experience applying MBSE with SysML and Cameo Systems Modeler (MagicDraw)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, and Project
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government clearance
  • Ability to comply with ITAR requirements
  • Willingness to travel 10–15%, including potential overnight travel for customer reviews and test events
  • Must qualify as a U.S. Person: a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual under 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3)
  • Eligibility to obtain required export authorizations from the U.S. Department of State or Department of Commerce
