Structural Engineering Intern - Valley, Nebraska

Support Valmont infrastructure and coatings engineering projects as a structural engineering intern in Valley, Nebraska. Inspect structures, perform engineering calculations, and develop designs, reports, and drawings.

Description

  • Uphold Valmont’s four core values: Integrity, Continuous Improvement, Passion, and Deliver Results
  • Collaborate with the Structural Engineering Manager, P.E., S.E.
  • Inspect properties to evaluate the existing condition of foundations and building structures
  • Take field measurements and complete load and capacity calculations
  • Assess and select suitable construction materials
  • Provide technical engineering guidance
  • Identify and secure required planning and building regulation approvals
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, and other relevant professionals
  • Monitor and inspect contractor-performed work
  • Administer project contracts
  • Manage projects and develop scope-of-work documents
  • Produce reports, designs, and technical drawings
  • Engage in project assignments, leadership development, job shadowing, and interactions with senior leaders

Requirements

  • Be a rising junior or senior pursuing a degree in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering
  • Attend an ABET-accredited college or university
  • Civil or Structural Engineering majors are preferred
  • Demonstrate proficiency with CAD applications, including converting drawings into 3D models
  • Possess strong Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills
  • Be available full-time with flexibility during the summer and part-time during the academic year
  • Work onsite in Valley, Nebraska
  • Be available to start in Spring/Summer 2027
