Staff SAP ABAP Engineer - Bangalore Onsite
Lead SAP ABAP development for S/4HANA applications, integrations, migration initiatives, and cloud-enabled solutions. This onsite Bangalore role supports Walmart Global Tech’s global retail technology platform.
Description
- Design, develop, and support SAP applications, enhancements, integrations, and cloud-enabled solutions
- Create and maintain ABAP programs, reports, enhancements, BAPIs, BAdIs, user exits, CDS views, AMDPs, RAP applications, and OData services
- Build scalable solutions with ABAP OO, S/4HANA Virtual Data Models, CDS annotations, and SAP Fiori integration
- Design and support integrations using IDocs, RFCs, APIs, SAP PI/PO, SAP Integration Suite, and SAP BTP
- Develop and optimize Adobe Forms, SmartForms, SAPScript, and ALV reporting solutions
- Improve application performance through ABAP tuning and SQL optimization
- Support S/4HANA migration and simplification programs, including ECC-to-S/4 conversion activities
- Work with Basis and infrastructure teams on OpenStack-hosted SAP landscapes, including HA/DR, system copies, and environment management
- Apply DevOps practices with gCTS, abapGit, Jenkins/GitHub Actions, ATC, and automated testing
- Perform code reviews and unit testing while maintaining SAP development standards
- Drive technical direction, scalability, resilience, product development, and high-scale re-architecture initiatives
- Partner with stakeholders and provide technical guidance to a team of engineers
Requirements
- At least 10 years of experience developing with SAP ABAP
- At least 7 years of S/4HANA development experience
- At least 5 years of experience with CDS views, OData, RAP, and integrations
- At least 5 years of ABAP OO development experience
- Familiarity with SAP Fiori/UI5 and OpenStack or cloud infrastructure
- Experience with SAP PI/PO, SAP Integration Suite, or comparable middleware
- Advanced knowledge of ABAP, ABAP OO, CDS, AMDP, RAP, BOPF, OData, SAP Fiori, SAP BTP, IDocs, RFCs, BAPIs, SmartForms, Adobe Forms, SAPScript, and data migration tools
- Knowledge of S/4HANA CDS views, VDM, the Simplification Catalog, Fiori Elements, and OData v2/v4
- Knowledge of OpenStack Nova, Neutron, and Cinder; Linux; virtualization; networking fundamentals; and SAP Basis
- Experience with Eclipse ADT, SAP BAS, abapGit, gCTS, Git, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, JIRA, Confluence, and ServiceNow
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or a related field plus 4 years of software engineering or related experience, or 6 years of software engineering or related experience
- Experience with SAP CAR, SAP CAR inbound, BAdI, outbound enhancement, STL, DDF, and integrations with POS and other SAP systems
