Staff Java Software Engineer at KAYAK (Vilnius Hybrid)

Lead backend architecture and engineering standards for KAYAK’s enterprise travel platform in Vilnius. Build scalable Java systems, high-performance integrations, and AI-enabled booking experiences.

Description

  • Maintain search and booking performance for global enterprise customers
  • Design high-performance, low-latency integration frameworks for third-party APIs with strong availability
  • Provide technical leadership across multiple engineering squads and align architectural decisions across the K4B ecosystem
  • Advance observability, CI/CD maturity, code quality, and distributed-systems practices
  • Convert business goals into durable technical specifications and communicate architectural risks and opportunities to leadership
  • Partner with engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders on scalable AI-driven booking and enterprise integration solutions
  • Mentor engineers and guide the technical direction of backend systems

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of experience with the Java ecosystem and Spring Framework, including Spring Boot and Spring Security
  • Expertise designing high-throughput data systems with PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Redis
  • Strong command of English
  • Knowledge of B2B integration standards and protocols, including SAML, OAuth2, OIDC, and SCIM, with automated user lifecycle management through Okta, Workday, or Azure AD
  • Prior experience with AI or LLM technologies is a plus
  • Able to work from the Vilnius office at least three days per week
  • Legally authorized to work in the country or region where the role is based
