Description

  • Own the Azure platform as its technical authority
  • Coordinate closely with external development and engineering partners
  • Keep deployed systems aligned with target architecture while supporting secure, reliable operations
  • Strengthen ownership of identity and access management, disaster recovery, and monitoring and observability
  • Manage Azure subscriptions, landing zones, networking, compute, databases, and Microsoft 365 tenant configuration
  • Check deployed infrastructure against approved architecture and security controls
  • Evaluate Entra ID, Conditional Access, authentication, RBAC, PIM, emergency access, service identities, and guest, B2B, and client identities
  • Promote least-privilege access, effective joiner-mover-leaver processes, recurring reviews, and removal of inactive identities
  • Align permissions and access dependencies across Microsoft 365, Azure, Azure DevOps, and applications
  • Manage Key Vault, secrets, certificates, and rotation processes
  • Evaluate and enhance disaster recovery across recovery units, dependencies, RTOs/RPOs, backups, replication, point-in-time recovery, and multi-region architecture
  • Lead restore and failover testing while maintaining runbooks, ownership details, and evidence
  • Enhance service-health monitoring with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, KQL, and Application Insights
  • Connect services to monitoring signals, refine alerts, and separate customer-facing status from operational diagnostics
  • Resolve production incidents across infrastructure, applications, APIs, and integrations
  • Keep runbooks and technical documentation current and actionable
  • Manage Terraform configurations, modules, and state while identifying configuration drift
  • Support Azure DevOps pipelines and permissions, and create PowerShell automation
  • Enforce Azure Policy and landing-zone guardrails while maintaining tagging, naming, and subscription standards
  • Improve cost controls, including telemetry retention and access
  • Represent the internal technical perspective with external providers, question proposed changes, and explain gaps, risks, and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders

Requirements

  • Hands-on expertise across Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365, including Azure platform engineering, tenant administration and security, Active Directory servers, and Mimecast email security and spam filtering
  • Background in cloud architecture, engineering, and operations within business-critical production environments
  • Strong command of Entra ID, Conditional Access, Azure RBAC, PIM, Key Vault, and identity governance across connected platforms
  • Practical experience with Azure networking, ingress, compute, and databases, including backup, replication, and restoration
  • Experience reviewing and validating disaster recovery through dependency mapping, RTOs/RPOs, recovery procedures, restore testing, and regional failover
  • Experience using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, KQL, and Application Insights for service-health monitoring, alert refinement, and troubleshooting distributed API-driven services
  • Working knowledge of Terraform modules, state management, and drift detection, plus Azure DevOps CI/CD, access controls, PowerShell, and Azure Policy
  • Strong technical writing and runbook skills, including the ability to separate verified findings from assumptions and recommendations
  • Independent decision-making, sound technical judgement, and the ability to collaborate with and challenge external providers while communicating clearly with technical and non-technical audiences
  • Familiarity with Bicep or ARM templates and cloud cost optimisation or FinOps
  • Experience supporting security audits
  • Familiarity with AI tools and practical uses in Microsoft 365 or IT operations, plus experience managing multiple external technology suppliers
  • Degree required
