Staff Engineer, New Markets — Singapore Remote

Lead the architecture of scalable brokerage systems and new-market APIs for Alpaca, a global brokerage infrastructure provider. Drive reliability, regional platform development, and technical mentorship from Singapore.

Description

  • Design and deliver scalable, mission-critical brokerage systems spanning gRPC microservices, REST and gRPC APIs, and vendor integrations.
  • Evolve the core platform for global multi-region, multi-currency, and regulatory requirements.
  • Own API quality, performance, and operational readiness across regional workloads.
  • Mentor engineers and strengthen technical standards through design reviews, pairing, and shared engineering practices.
  • Support regional recruiting through hiring collaboration and interviews.
  • Promote knowledge sharing and a strong engineering culture across Alpaca.
  • Serve as a senior escalation point for regional incidents while improving monitoring, alerting, and response processes.
  • Join the on-call rotation according to the team’s coverage model.
  • Partner with Product, Compliance, and local stakeholders on Singapore and regional requirements.
  • Coordinate delivery across time zones with US and other regional engineering teams.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated backend engineering expertise in Go or an equivalent language, with experience building distributed systems at scale.
  • Staff-level influence demonstrated through architecture ownership, cross-team technical leadership, and mentorship.
  • Experience in financial services, fintech, or brokerage systems, including trading lifecycles, settlements, and regulatory considerations.
  • Excellent English communication skills and confidence working with regional and global stakeholders.
