Staff Electronics Engineer, Avionics

Develop and integrate avionics systems for Northrop Grumman’s Air Dominance Division in an onsite role. Coordinate flight systems, suppliers, testing, and program execution.

Description

  • Design, develop, integrate, and test electronic systems for power, communications, flight controls, networks, radar, navigation, and weapons.
  • Maintain complex circuitry, analog and digital computers, and LRU/SRU equipment.
  • Report technical status, challenges, impacts, and mitigations to engineering leaders and program management.
  • Act as Responsible Engineer, supplier technical liaison, and lead Avionics representative for integration support.
  • Guide and mentor responsible and junior engineers.
  • Track contract work for compliance with development, sustainment, hardware design, and qualification activities.
  • Support cross-functional integration, verification, and validation.
  • Provide technical assessments and status updates to program leaders and customers.
  • Evaluate the cost and schedule effects of technical decisions.
  • Ensure work follows processes, best practices, policies, procedures, and quality standards.
  • Coordinate with engineering and program management to meet statements of work and technical requirements.
  • Work with the Technical Review Board on change packages.
  • Participate in technical interchange meetings and program reviews.
  • Help resolve engineering challenges affecting technical programs.
  • Coordinate across programs and functions to improve operational efficiency.
  • Analyze complex problems and develop solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field plus 12 years of related experience, a master’s degree plus 10 years, or a PhD plus 8 years.
  • Strong understanding of electronic systems.
  • Experience with qualification and environmental testing for flight equipment.
  • Familiarity with nuclear, electromagnetic interference (EMI), reliability, and logistics disciplines.
  • Experience with airborne platform integration requirements.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret clearance.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.
  • Strong understanding of nuclear and radiation-hardening requirements and testing.
  • Experience with LabVIEW or other data collection and electronic modeling tools.
  • Working knowledge of Earned Value and Cost Account Management principles.
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment.
  • U.S. citizenship required for positions requiring government clearance.
