Lead cloud infrastructure engineering at Airbnb by building Kubernetes platforms, cloud automation, and developer tools for globally scaled services. Improve the availability, reliability, and efficiency of infrastructure supporting a large hospitality marketplace.

Description

  • Build and run foundational cloud infrastructure platforms for Airbnb services
  • Deliver developer APIs and CLIs, Kubernetes infrastructure, autoscaling and capacity-management tools, and cloud automation
  • Develop cloud-native infrastructure with public cloud technologies
  • Create secure, efficient, mature, and highly available frameworks that reduce infrastructure complexity
  • Improve the performance and operational efficiency of existing systems and services
  • Increase system availability through distributed-systems best practices
  • Partner with infrastructure engineers to support Airbnb’s long-term technology foundation
  • Collaborate with open-source communities and peer companies on large-scale cloud-native engineering challenges

Requirements

  • Bring 10+ years of industry experience with a BS or master’s degree, or 2+ years with a PhD, preferably in computer science; equivalent experience is also considered
  • Demonstrated success developing and operating large-scale technical projects alongside experienced engineers
  • Expert-level knowledge of public cloud providers such as AWS, GCP, and Azure, including IaaS offerings like EC2
  • Working knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies including Docker and Kubernetes
  • Take full ownership across the development life cycle, with experience building and operating high-scale distributed systems
  • Communicate effectively and collaborate across engineering teams
  • Apply strong problem-solving skills and debug production systems effectively
  • Prioritize efficiency, availability, reliability, and overall system quality
  • Demonstrated experience operating Kubernetes at scale
