Space Force Technical Director

Leidos seeks a Technical Director to advance defense technology and mission solutions for the U.S. Space Force. The role leads customer engagement, systems engineering, opportunity capture, and command-and-control architecture for space operations.

Description

  • Partner with Technology and Growth teams to assess customer needs and lead initial capability validation, solution design, and verification
  • Develop mission concepts and technical solutions through white papers, proofs of concept, presentations, and early proposal materials
  • Engage executives and mission stakeholders to expand customer understanding of Leidos capabilities
  • Support Space Force portfolio and program managers with contract delivery and agency contract growth
  • Direct technical solution development and implementation for Space Force systems engineering and integration contracts
  • Establish requirements decomposition, repeatable engineering and architecture reviews, compliant configuration management, and validation of technical and management solutions against mission needs
  • Advise customer engagement and opportunity strategies as a technical subject matter expert
  • Contribute to white papers, requests for information, proposals, and technical briefings
  • Support marketing and business development through direct customer engagement
  • Help business development and capture teams identify, qualify, and pursue opportunities
  • Contribute to capture strategies and develop and promote differentiated value propositions
  • Support customer meetings and the development and execution of call plans
  • Draft OV-1 diagrams and initial solution components, then validate them with customers
  • Participate in program management and business development reviews
  • Improve the performance of existing projects as needed
  • Perform pre-sales engineering activities with Business Development and Operations leadership

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI security clearance
  • U.S. citizenship
  • Master’s degree in a technical or scientific discipline from an accredited institution
  • More than 15 years of relevant professional experience
  • At least 15 years of increasing responsibility in relevant technical disciplines supporting the Department of War, intelligence community, or national security space programs
  • At least five years of experience in three listed technical areas, with expertise in one or more of networking engineering, cybersecurity, system development, AI/ML, data science, data warehousing, data governance, hardware engineering, IT operations, systems architecture, cloud architecture, information assurance, or the ITIL framework
  • Systems engineering experience spanning the acquisition lifecycle from requirements development through operational sustainment
  • Extensive experience architecting, developing, and integrating command-and-control systems for space operations
  • Ability to integrate disparate data sources for access and discovery to accelerate mission decision-making
  • Experience with technology analysis, trade studies, product assessments, or research initiatives
  • Strong written, verbal, and listening communication skills
  • Experience providing technology oversight
  • Experience working directly with customers
  • Experience developing digital modernization solutions using data science, machine learning, or artificial intelligence
  • Experience preparing white papers, RFI responses, and business development or capture proposals
  • Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, or OCI
  • Demonstrated understanding of customers at mid- and senior-level Space Force leadership
  • Subject matter expertise in the Space Force community
