Sourcing Specialist, Apparel Direct Imports

Coordinate JCPenney’s direct-import apparel purchases, from supplier pricing negotiations through quality and delivery oversight. Analyze sourcing performance and work with internal and external teams to meet product goals.

Description

  • Oversee placement and confirmation of direct-import purchases.
  • Research and develop new sourcing resources.
  • Help resolve product quality and delivery issues.
  • Manage a brand or product category and report to the Director.
  • Build working relationships with cross-functional partners, internal stakeholders, suppliers, and teams.
  • Coordinate internal and external teams and timelines to meet IMU, quality, and delivery goals.
  • Analyze results before and after each season, then present findings and recommended actions to executive management.
  • Maintain detailed product cost records, including CIP and fabric costs.
  • Negotiate program pricing and delivery terms.
  • Track quality and delivery metrics and introduce improvements.
  • Manage product move-outs, cancellations, and related liabilities.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • One to three years of related experience in retail, apparel manufacturing, quality, and trade agreements preferred.
  • Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to build cross-functional relationships.
  • Excellent organization and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet critical deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word.
