Software Engineering Manager, AI Platform — São Paulo Hybrid
Lead Thomson Reuters’ AI Platform engineering team in São Paulo, overseeing services, tools, and infrastructure. Guide Python, AWS, Kubernetes, and scalable AI solutions while developing engineers and delivering the technical roadmap.
Description
- Lead a software engineering team responsible for AI Platform services, tools, and infrastructure
- Coach and develop engineers while promoting technical excellence and career growth
- Design, build, and maintain Python back-end services and APIs
- Set and deliver the technical roadmap for AI Platform services
- Architect scalable solutions on AWS cloud infrastructure
- Oversee deployment and operation of containerized applications with Kubernetes
- Establish engineering practices for development, security, reliability, and operational excellence
- Work with Product Managers, Architects, and cross-functional stakeholders
- Manage software delivery, resource planning, and execution
- Improve code quality through reviews, technical direction, and engineering governance
- Assess emerging technologies, frameworks, and AI capabilities for platform improvements
- Collaborate with Product, Architecture, and AI Platform teams on secure, scalable solutions
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Strong Python skills and knowledge of modern software engineering practices
- Advanced English proficiency
- Demonstrated experience leading and managing software engineering teams
- Hands-on experience with AWS services, including EC2, S3, Lambda, and EKS
- Strong knowledge of Kubernetes and container orchestration
- Experience with CI/CD, DevOps, and cloud-native application development
- Understanding of software architecture, scalability, performance, and reliability
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to lead in fast-paced environments
- Experience with AI agents or tools such as Microsoft Copilot, Claude Code, or similar AI-assisted development frameworks
- Familiarity with AI/ML platforms and generative AI technologies
- Experience with microservices and event-driven architecture
- Knowledge of cloud security best practices
- Experience leading distributed or globally dispersed engineering teams
- Previous management experience in platform engineering, developer experience, or AI infrastructure
