Description
- Oversee the reliability and availability of business-critical database systems
- Operate and support terabyte-scale databases in production environments
- Carry out database upgrades, patching, and routine maintenance
- Plan and deliver data migrations while protecting availability and integrity and reducing operational risk
- Diagnose production incidents, performance issues, and service degradation
- Strengthen monitoring, alerting, and observability across databases and related infrastructure
- Automate infrastructure and operational workflows where it adds value
- Partner with infrastructure and database teams to increase resilience, scalability, and operational efficiency
- Contribute to root cause analyses and implement preventive actions after incidents
- Keep operational procedures, runbooks, and reliability practices current and effective
Requirements
- Practical experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, or Database Operations
- Solid knowledge of database administration and reliability principles
- Experience supporting large-scale or business-critical production environments
- Hands-on experience with monitoring and observability tools
- Understanding of performance monitoring, alerting, troubleshooting, and incident response
- Experience with data migrations and/or database upgrades
- Strong Linux knowledge and infrastructure troubleshooting skills
- Self-directed approach with ownership of production reliability responsibilities
- Experience using AWS
- Experience with Terraform or comparable Infrastructure-as-Code tools
- Experience with enterprise monitoring and observability platforms
- Previous experience managing Oracle databases
- Experience operating databases at terabyte scale
- Background in Database Reliability Engineering or SRE environments
- Experience supporting financial services systems or other highly regulated environments
