Site Reliability Engineer - Boston, Hybrid

Site Reliability Engineer responsible for AWS infrastructure automation, observability, and incident response. The role supports SS&C Technologies’ financial technology products through dependable cloud operations and platform improvements.

Description

  • Automate infrastructure configuration with AWS CloudFormation, Chef, Packer, and Terraform
  • Streamline operational tasks and connect ChatOps workflows to Lambda functions using Python and Node.js
  • Maintain and enhance container build pipelines with Docker and Jenkins
  • Join the weekly on-call rotation and respond to production incidents
  • Administer secrets management, service discovery, and container orchestration platforms
  • Review code for internal services and infrastructure updates
  • Run experiments and research spikes to evaluate proposed changes
  • Partner with R&D and architecture teams to resolve production defects and runtime inefficiencies
  • Work with development teams to strengthen system operability
  • Establish, monitor, and maintain SLOs, SLIs, and error budgets
  • Develop and maintain observability pipelines and dashboards with Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, and Splunk
  • Lead incident response and on-call escalations through PagerDuty
  • Facilitate blameless post-mortems and implement systemic improvements

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related discipline
  • At least five years of experience working in Linux environments
  • At least five years of cloud computing administration and engineering experience
  • Deep experience troubleshooting and debugging infrastructure problems
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
  • Preferred: development experience with Python, Ruby, Node.js, C#, SQL, or Go
  • Preferred: at least three years of experience deploying and orchestrating containerized software
  • Preferred: at least three years of experience with standardized orchestration and automation tools
  • Preferred: experience applying AI tools to engineering workflows, AIOps, observability platforms, and LLM or AI service integrations
