Description

  • Design, deploy, and administer UNIX and Linux infrastructure
  • Help shape UNIX and Linux strategy and maintain infrastructure roadmaps
  • Develop project plans, estimate work, and support capacity-planning and performance-analysis priorities
  • Coordinate with vendors, managed service providers, and internal colleagues
  • Direct operational activities while defining processes and standard operating procedures
  • Serve as the final escalation point for critical production incidents
  • Create operating-system images, patch bundles, scripts, and automation
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines
  • Program in Python, Ruby, and Go, and define desired state with Chef and Ansible
  • Establish technical standards and policies while supporting daily operations and incident response
  • Collaborate across a global organization and provide support outside core business hours

Requirements

  • At least five years of experience in a comparable engineering role
  • Strong oral and written communication skills for working with engineers, vendors, managers, business stakeholders, and clients
  • Ability to produce standard operating procedures, technical documentation, strategy materials, and infrastructure roadmaps
  • At least two years of AWS or Azure experience, including EC2, S3, AMI, EBS, IAM, and VPC
  • At least five years of experience engineering Linux, AIX, and Solaris environments
  • At least five years of experience with VMware virtualization
  • Proficiency in multiple scripting languages, including Bash, Python, Ruby, and Go
  • Working knowledge of SAN, multipath, and storage technologies
  • At least two years of experience with clustering technologies such as Veritas and PCS
  • Preferred: knowledge of centralized configuration management, orchestration, and infrastructure-as-code practices using Ansible, Chef, and Terraform
  • Preferred: experience with CI/CD tools and practices, including Jenkins
  • Preferred: experience supporting Greenplum appliances
  • Preferred: experience with Kubernetes and container platforms such as OpenShift
  • Preferred: experience with observability and monitoring platforms such as Datadog, Splunk, and ELK
  • Preferred: at least five years of experience with traditional AIX or Solaris environments
  • Preferred: experience with Zerto
  • Preferred: experience with VMware vSphere products
  • Preferred: knowledge of networking protocols, switching, routing, firewalls, IP subnets, and load balancing
