Senior Solution Architect - Canada Remote

Lead secure, scalable enterprise solution architecture for Thales businesses across aerospace, transportation, defense, security, and space. Drive architecture governance, integration, and delivery for teams in Quebec or Ontario.

Description

  • Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to design, guide, and support technology solution delivery
  • Convert business needs into secure, scalable, cost-conscious designs aligned with NORAM and Thales architecture standards and strategic objectives
  • Assess business requirements and create comprehensive solution architectures
  • Support delivery teams in achieving business outcomes while controlling costs and reducing risk
  • Develop trusted working relationships with project teams and regional technical stakeholders
  • Explain the business value of architecture decisions and advise teams throughout the solution lifecycle
  • Help project teams and technical subject-matter experts turn business requirements into enterprise architectures
  • Create and maintain logical, physical, integration, security, data, and infrastructure architecture documentation
  • Assess solution options and recommend implementation strategies using business value, feasibility, cost, risk, and operational impact
  • Verify that solution designs follow enterprise architecture principles, standards, policies, and regulatory obligations
  • Lead architecture reviews, present designs, address governance issues, and obtain architectural approval
  • Identify and reduce technical risks, dependencies, constraints, and delivery challenges
  • Define integration strategies spanning applications, platforms, infrastructure, data sources, and external partners
  • Coordinate collaboration among cybersecurity, infrastructure, cloud, network, and application teams
  • Record architecture decisions, technical assumptions, and implementation direction
  • Help evolve architecture practices, templates, standards, and reusable design patterns
  • Share relevant knowledge, proven practices, and delivery lessons
  • Keep current with applicable technologies, platforms, and vendor offerings
  • Promote secure, sustainable, supportable solutions that maximize value while reducing complexity and technical debt

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, information systems, or a related technical field
  • At least 12 years of experience in solution architecture, application architecture, infrastructure architecture, systems engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • At least 8 years designing and implementing complex business and technology solutions across multiple technical domains
  • Experience leading architecture work across the full delivery lifecycle, from requirements analysis and design through implementation, testing, deployment, and operational transition
  • Hands-on experience in at least three areas such as application development, cloud platforms, systems integration, infrastructure services, data management, cybersecurity, networking, or enterprise applications
  • Strong understanding of architecture governance, including architecture reviews and design authority processes
  • Expert-level knowledge of solution architecture principles, design methods, and systems integration practices
  • Experience designing with cloud services, SaaS platforms, APIs, microservices, event-driven architectures, and hybrid environments
  • Understanding of application, data, integration, security, and infrastructure architecture and how they interact in end-to-end solutions
  • Ability to independently assess technology options and recommend solutions based on functionality, cost, risk, supportability, and business alignment
  • Expert-level knowledge of non-functional requirements, including security, resilience, scalability, performance, maintainability, and disaster recovery
  • TOGAF Foundation or Certified certification
  • Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect, AWS Solutions Architect, or equivalent cloud certification
  • ITIL Foundation certification
  • SAFe Architect, SAFe Agilist, or another Agile-related certification
  • Eligibility for, or ability to obtain, authorization to access Canadian export-controlled hardware, software, and technical information
  • Eligibility for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program and ability to obtain a Canadian NATO Secret clearance.
