Senior Solution Architect – Canada Remote

Description

  • Translate business needs into enterprise solution architectures
  • Lead project teams and technical subject-matter experts in accordance with enterprise standards, governance practices, and technology roadmaps
  • Create and maintain logical, physical, integration, security, data, and infrastructure architecture documentation
  • Assess solution options and recommend implementation strategies using business value, feasibility, cost, risk, and operational criteria
  • Verify that solution designs meet enterprise architecture principles, standards, policies, and regulatory obligations
  • Lead architecture reviews, present proposed designs, address governance issues, and obtain architectural approval
  • Identify and reduce technical risks, dependencies, constraints, and delivery challenges across project lifecycles
  • Develop integration strategies spanning applications, platforms, infrastructure, data sources, and external partners
  • Coordinate with cybersecurity, infrastructure, cloud, network, and application teams
  • Record architecture decisions, technical assumptions, and implementation guidance
  • Help develop architecture practices, templates, standards, and reusable design patterns
  • Share architecture knowledge, proven practices, and project lessons with delivery teams and fellow architects
  • Stay informed about relevant technologies, platforms, and vendor offerings
  • Champion secure, sustainable, supportable solutions that increase business value while reducing complexity and technical debt

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, information systems, or a related technical discipline
  • At least 12 years of experience in solution architecture, application architecture, infrastructure architecture, systems engineering, or a related technical field
  • At least 8 years of experience designing and implementing complex business and technology solutions across multiple domains
  • Experience leading architecture work across the full delivery lifecycle, from requirements analysis and design through implementation, testing, deployment, and operational transition
  • Practical experience in at least three areas such as application development, cloud platforms, systems integration, infrastructure services, data management, cybersecurity, networking, or enterprise applications
  • Strong understanding of architecture governance and experience participating in architecture reviews and design authority forums
  • Expert-level knowledge of solution architecture principles, design methods, and systems integration practices
  • Experience designing solutions with cloud services, SaaS platforms, APIs, microservices, event-driven architectures, and hybrid environments
  • Understanding of application, data, integration, security, and infrastructure architecture and how they combine in end-to-end solutions
  • Ability to independently assess technology options and recommend solutions based on functionality, cost, risk, supportability, and business alignment
  • Expert-level knowledge of non-functional requirements, including security, resilience, scalability, performance, maintainability, and disaster recovery
  • TOGAF Foundation or Certified certification
  • Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect, AWS Solutions Architect, or equivalent cloud certification
  • ITIL Foundation certification
  • SAFe Architect, SAFe Agilist, or another Agile-related certification
  • Eligibility for, or ability to obtain, authorization to access Canadian-controlled hardware, software, technical information, and the Canadian Controlled Goods Program
  • Ability to obtain a Canadian NATO Secret clearance
