Senior SAR Systems Engineer – Remote, United States
Senior Systems Engineer responsible for designing and validating synthetic aperture radar missions for an Earth-observation satellite company. The role covers mission enhancements, systems trade-offs, calibration, commissioning, and early operations.
Description
- Contribute SAR engineering across the complete lifecycle of a space mission
- Help define the mission concept of operations and high-level specifications, including SAR payload spacecraft budgets
- Lead technical solutions for mission enhancements, including beam modes, mission concepts, and image-quality modeling
- Participate in mission risk management, integration, verification, and validation
- Own design trade-offs spanning spacecraft systems, coverage and access, the SAR payload, processor, and end-user applications
- Support the team during commissioning, calibration, and early operations
- Mentor team members
Requirements
- Graduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Mathematics, Physics, or an equivalent field
- At least 10 years of experience with radar, SAR, or comparable active imaging systems, including hardware, processors, or data products
- At least 5 years of experience in space systems engineering or a similarly complex systems environment
- Experience with SAR remote sensing, including system design, operations, applications or exploitation, or calibration
- Strong communication skills
- US citizenship or permanent residency
- Preferred experience with MATLAB, Python, satellite SAR payload design and operations, space mission design, spacecraft design, or geospatial data
Benefits
