Work with Product Owners and Domain Experts to clarify requirements, validate solutions, and refine acceptance criteria.
Coordinate with DevOps and Platform teams on CI/CD pipelines, deployments, and operational runbooks.
Improve the codebase through refactoring, broader test coverage, performance tuning, and technical debt reduction.
Help triage production incidents, contribute to postmortems, and implement preventative actions.
Build dependable backend services and APIs.
Help shape the architecture and ongoing development of service-oriented and distributed systems.

Requirements

At least five years of professional software development experience with strong Ruby proficiency.
Proven experience building and operating backend services and APIs with REST and/or GraphQL.
Sound understanding of service-oriented architecture and distributed-systems fundamentals.
Strong knowledge of relational databases, including PostgreSQL or MySQL, schema design, and SQL optimization.
Practical experience with automated testing tools such as RSpec or Minitest, factory utilities, and test-first development.
Familiarity with caching and real-time technologies such as Redis or equivalent tools.
Experience using CI/CD platforms including GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.
Strong Git skills and familiarity with modern code-review practices, branching, and merge strategies.
Proficiency in object-oriented programming.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with close attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively with distributed teams across time zones.
