Senior Mechanical Systems Engineer - Pune, India Onsite

Lead automotive mechanical systems development at AUO Mobility Solutions, from concept through validation. Design knobs, push buttons, displays, and related assemblies.

Description

  • Act as the primary technical liaison for customers and internal project teams
  • Lead complete mechanical system development against customer, quality, cost, and schedule requirements
  • Manage project execution while maintaining alignment with customer expectations
  • Advance mechanical design and display solution development
  • Coordinate all aspects of mechanical system development
  • Oversee integration and design maturity for surfaces, illumination, and display assemblies
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, and design-related costs
  • Plan work packages and align design interfaces
  • Maintain Level 2 plans against Level 1 project milestones
  • Coordinate interface milestones across functions
  • Track engineering costs and introduce corrective measures
  • Confirm compliance with mechanical system requirements and specifications
  • Conduct and verify tolerance studies, GD&T, FEA, and mold flow analyses
  • Create practical, durable, and cost-efficient designs for crash, vibration, drop, and thermal shock conditions
  • Plan and supervise prototype builds and validation activities
  • Assess test outcomes and establish corrective and preventive measures
  • Produce, maintain, and release 3D models and drawings with revision history
  • Prepare and release design bills of materials
  • Contribute to DFMEA and DFM sessions while leading mechanical system activities
  • Choose economical materials that satisfy functional and environmental needs
  • Lead cross-functional reviews and contribute to system design reviews
  • Optimize components and subassemblies for final release
  • Work with OEM and Tier 1 customers and suppliers on DFM, DFA, and industrialization
  • Maintain clear communication and alignment among stakeholders

Requirements

  • 10–14 years of professional experience
  • BE, BTech, ME, or MTech in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Automobile Engineering
  • Experience delivering at least two complete product development programs across the full APQP-aligned product lifecycle
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with customers and suppliers during technical discussions and coordination
  • Proficiency with CATIA 3D and 2D CAD tools
  • Basic working knowledge of ANSYS or comparable CAE and FEA tools
  • Strong capability in plastic component design and material selection
  • Experience with automotive mechatronics, illumination, displays, and metal components
  • Practical experience designing automotive rotary knobs and push buttons for radio and HVAC panels
  • Expertise in haptic design and detent profiles for torque and tactile response
  • Familiarity with AIS, ECE, JIS, and other international automotive standards
  • Knowledge of lifecycle and validation testing, including endurance, durability, environmental, crash, and safety testing
  • Strong knowledge of plastics, metals, contact materials, additives, shrinkage, warpage, and tooling factors
  • Understanding of injection-molding processes and common defects
  • Familiarity with painting, varnishing, laser engraving, galvanization, foil technology, and IMD
  • Knowledge and practical experience in requirements management, FMEA, product and component validation, and quality assurance
  • Basic understanding of electronic hardware, connectors, PCB technologies, and coating or spraying processes for electronic assemblies
  • Basic experience using PDM systems
  • Basic knowledge of DOORS
  • Strong understanding of the product development process from Gate 0 through Gate 6
  • Familiarity with project phases, customer milestones, and required deliverables
  • Ability to independently lead projects while meeting delivery schedules and quality standards
