Simulation Engineer – Emerson Ovation Power Plant Simulators

Develop and test digital twin power plant simulators for Emerson’s Ovation products. Support customer projects, system integration, and factory acceptance testing.

Description

  • Model, test, and tune assigned systems and subsystems within project budgets and schedules
  • Prepare, review, and submit Data Collection Lists within the project scope
  • Prepare, review, and submit Functional Design Specifications to the Project Lead
  • Review marked-up P&IDs within the project scope and submit them to the lead
  • Support pre-factory and factory acceptance tests in India and overseas
  • Follow departmental quality procedures and complete related checklists
  • Prepare and review systems for Expert Review and standalone model testing
  • Lead systems and subsystems integration for testing
  • Work with the Global Modeling Team
  • Meet project budget and schedule requirements
  • Contribute to simulator projects alongside a team of four to five engineers
  • Apply knowledge of the Ovation Control system, including protections, interlocks, and permissives
  • Develop skills in line with departmental needs
  • Take part in project requirements reviews, customer discussions, and detailed design reviews
  • Develop and test power plant simulation models for Emerson’s Ovation products
  • Deliver digital twin simulators that meet quality expectations for customers

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering or power plant engineering
  • 1–3 years of experience in coal or combined-cycle power plant operations or modeling
  • Strong computer skills
  • At least basic spoken and written English
  • Creativity in applying thermodynamics knowledge to system design
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Willingness and ability to travel and work abroad for 30–40% of work time
  • Previous experience with simulation or modeling tools preferred
  • Good knowledge of power plant processes and operations preferred
  • Strong communication skills preferred
