Senior Mainframe Storage Administrator - Bangalore Onsite
Senior Mainframe Storage Administrator supporting DASD, tape, and storage migrations for Kyndryl’s enterprise clients. The role covers production z/OS environments and modernization programs.
Description
- Resolve complex cross-platform and service issues while anticipating potential future problems.
- Support technology adoption and modernization initiatives for major clients.
- Manage client systems data, deliver daily operational solutions, and maintain security compliance.
- Coordinate assignment queues and work directly with technicians.
- Prioritize service tickets to provide effective client solutions.
- Deliver technical support for production mainframe environments.
- Advise on modernization approaches and identify potential business opportunities.
- Build productive relationships with teams and stakeholders.
- Work across diverse teams while strengthening management and organizational capabilities.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of experience in mainframe storage administration.
- Experience with DASD and tape storage solutions, including mainframe DASD and tape configuration and migration.
- Working knowledge of the z/OS operating system, z/OS MVS fundamentals, storage concepts, and storage devices.
- Proficiency with TSO, ISPF, JCL, VSAM, ISMF, JES2, catalogs, PS/PDS/PDSE/GDG datasets, REXX, SAS, SDSF, and spool.
- Experience with DFSMS, DFSMSHSM, DFSMSDSS, DFSMSDFP, DFSMSRMM, ICF Catalog, VSAM, IDCAMS, CA Disk, CA Allocate, CA-1, FDR, Omegamon XE or comparable storage monitoring tools, ICKDSF, space abends, and SMF/Dcollect/BVIR reports.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related discipline.
- Experience supporting production mainframe environments with multiple LPARs, CECs, DASD, and VTS controllers.
- Experience migrating storage-box data between DASD systems and between tape systems, as well as implementing storage replication.
- Availability to work customer hours across the US, Europe, and Asia Pacific, including weekends and holidays as on-call staff.
