Senior Java Developer, Virginia Remote

Build and support Java applications, microservices, and REST APIs for Kreative Technologies, with responsibility for technical design, production support, coding standards, and developer mentorship.

Description

  • Design and develop complex Java applications, microservices, and REST APIs
  • Translate technical designs into scoped tasks and delivery estimates
  • Lead code reviews while upholding coding and security standards
  • Enhance application performance, reliability, and maintainability
  • Investigate and resolve complex production incidents
  • Coach Java developers and contribute to their professional development
  • Partner with DevOps teams to strengthen build and deployment pipelines
  • Handle additional responsibilities as assigned

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related discipline is required
  • At least 7 years of professional Java development experience
  • Substantial experience with Spring Boot, microservices, and REST APIs
  • Practical experience with SQL and relational databases, including Oracle or Db2
  • Experience using Git, Maven or Gradle, and CI/CD platforms such as Jenkins
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Capacity to work independently in a remote setting
  • Ability to routinely use standard office equipment, including computers, phones, scanners, and printers
  • Preferred: Experience with containerization and cloud platforms such as Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, or Azure
  • Preferred: Oracle Certified Professional Java certification
  • Preferred: Experience supporting federal government contracts
