Senior iOS Software Engineer (Contract)

Build and maintain production iOS applications with Swift and SwiftUI as a senior engineer at Mindgrub. Contribute to Android development using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose when project needs require.

Description

  • Build, test, deploy, and maintain production iOS applications with Swift, SwiftUI, and modern Apple frameworks
  • Provide senior technical guidance on mobile architecture, implementation decisions, code quality, and engineering practices
  • Work with engineers, designers, project managers, QA specialists, and clients to turn requirements into technical solutions
  • Contribute to Android applications with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose as project needs arise
  • Implement features, fix defects, review code, troubleshoot issues, and support releases across iOS and Android codebases
  • Create consistent architecture, functionality, and user experiences across both mobile platforms
  • Assess frameworks, libraries, platform capabilities, and related technologies
  • Contribute throughout discovery, planning, estimation, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance
  • Prepare task-level effort estimates and support technical and project estimation
  • Monitor project budgets and timelines while owning assigned deliverables
  • Review peer code and provide practical, actionable feedback
  • Apply shared technical knowledge to resolve complex engineering problems
  • Improve engineering processes, development practices, application architecture, and team efficiency
  • Apply Mindgrub engineering standards and development processes to project work
  • Communicate with clients about technical requirements, project updates, decisions, and issue resolution
  • Mentor engineers through reviews, pairing, technical discussions, and knowledge sharing
  • Help interview and assess engineering candidates
  • Keep current with evolving iOS and Android technologies and development practices

Requirements

  • Be authorized to work in the United States
  • Work remotely from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time, with an anticipated 40-hour workweek
  • Support the contract from October 2026 through September 2027, with potential for extension
  • Bring at least four years of professional iOS development experience, including substantial recent work building and maintaining production Swift applications
  • Have recent professional experience developing native applications for both iOS and Android
  • Demonstrate current, hands-on expertise with Swift and SwiftUI, including production SwiftUI interfaces and appropriate UIKit integration
  • Know the current iOS SDK, Xcode, application lifecycle, concurrency, networking, persistence, debugging, performance optimization, automated testing, dependency management, and Apple signing and distribution
  • Have professional Android development experience with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose
  • Understand Android Studio, Jetpack libraries, Compose UI, application architecture, coroutines, Gradle, networking, persistence, testing, and publishing
  • Be able to independently understand, debug, and contribute meaningful production code to modern iOS and Android codebases
  • Understand declarative UI concepts such as state management, navigation, application architecture, lifecycle, and platform-specific conventions
  • Have experience designing or contributing to maintainable mobile application architectures
  • Understand iOS and Android architecture, lifecycle, platform capabilities, accessibility, performance, and release processes
  • Have experience consuming REST APIs and connecting mobile applications to backend services and third-party SDKs
  • Be familiar with Git workflows, continuous integration, automated testing, and mobile release processes
  • Demonstrate strong debugging and problem-solving ability across mobile applications, APIs, and third-party integrations
  • Communicate effectively with engineers, project teams, clients, and other stakeholders
  • Work independently within multidisciplinary project teams
  • Be able to attend meetings digitally or in person when required
