Senior FPGA Engineer – RF and Communications Systems (California Remote)

Design and deliver FPGA-based embedded communications and networking systems at Anduril Industries. Lead HDL development, verification, integration, and lifecycle support for defense technology platforms.

Description

  • Collaborate with RF, DSP, firmware, FPGA, software, and test engineers to deliver embedded processing solutions for communications and networking
  • Manage and improve the FPGA firmware lifecycle from MATLAB/Simulink algorithms and requirements through architecture, development, testing, integration, support, and sustainment
  • Define and refine HDL firmware development workflows covering architecture, design, simulation, verification, and system testing
  • Create microprocessor interface control documents for FPGA and message or data-handling schemes

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or an equivalent field
  • Proven experience contributing to cross-functional hardware or embedded-systems product teams and taking firmware and software from concept through production
  • At least 6 years of experience designing, implementing, and verifying FPGA-based systems with VHDL or Verilog
  • Experience using code generators to convert MATLAB/Simulink algorithms into FPGA implementations
  • Proficiency in C and C++
  • Experience working with real-time operating systems
  • Familiarity with commonly used MCU, CPU, and FPGA devices and technologies
  • Familiarity with standard interfaces including Ethernet, I2C, SPI, PCIe, and USB
  • Familiarity with flight-software architectures and embedded-systems development processes
  • Proficiency using basic electrical engineering test equipment, including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators, to test PCB assemblies
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance
  • Preferred: Experience with wireless communications systems
  • Preferred: Expertise in computer networking
  • Preferred: Experience using AI-generated software tools such as CoPilot, Claude, and Code-GPT
  • Preferred: Experience implementing enhanced security measures
  • Preferred: Familiarity with high-reliability aerospace designs
  • Preferred: Familiarity with aircraft systems architectures, particularly redundant systems
  • Preferred: Understanding of DO-254, DO-178C, DO-160, and DO-311A
  • Preferred: Understanding of MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-704, and MIL-STD-461
  • Preferred: Experience designing, testing, and troubleshooting complex communications-system board designs
