Senior DevOps Engineer – Richmond, Canada (Hybrid)

Lead Azure, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and on-premises platform operations for Boeing Canada’s defence and government services portfolio.

Description

  • Develop and optimize GitLab CI pipelines covering automated builds, testing, deployments, and rollbacks.
  • Provision and consistently manage Azure infrastructure with Terraform or comparable infrastructure-as-code tooling.
  • Deploy and operate containerized workloads with AKS and Docker, as well as serverless functions.
  • Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, and performance improvements while supporting incident response and root cause investigations.
  • Embed security controls in delivery pipelines and enforce Azure Policy, RBAC, and secrets-management practices.
  • Partner with development, architecture, security, and product teams to deliver scalable, secure solutions.
  • Set technical direction, mentor junior and mid-level engineers, and promote engineering best practices.
  • Resolve complex infrastructure, deployment, and reliability problems across distributed systems.
  • Maintain compliance while applying security-by-design, cloud migration, and large-scale cost-optimization practices.
  • Communicate complex technology clearly in terms of business outcomes to executives and technical stakeholders.
  • Direct multidisciplinary technical systems and application initiatives.
  • Install, configure, and maintain hardware, software, and components across multiple platforms.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of DevOps, cloud engineering, or platform engineering experience, including 3 or more years with Microsoft Azure or another cloud platform.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, operate, and support secure, scalable, highly available cloud platforms.
  • Able to work independently while delivering hands-on technical support and strategic guidance.
  • At least 5 years of experience with containerization and orchestration, particularly Kubernetes and OpenShift.
  • At least 5 years of software development experience.
  • At least 2 years of Linux and network administration experience.
  • Experience with development, deployment, and version-control tools such as Eclipse, Git, Jira, and VersionOne.
  • Experience contributing to Agile delivery teams.
  • Experience with continuous integration and delivery tools, including Argo CD and GitLab CI/CD.
  • Experience supporting on-premises deployments and their operational complexities.
  • Eligible for authorization under the Canadian Controlled Goods Program.
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada.
  • Must not present a risk to the safeguarding of controlled goods.
  • Eligible for Canadian Secret Level II security clearance.
  • Eligible to handle U.S. export-controlled data.
  • Successful candidates must complete the company’s Conflict of Interest assessment process.
  • AI/ML experience is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Java, Python, Node.js, HTML, Angular 2+, TypeScript, JavaScript, or React is preferred.
  • Infrastructure-as-code experience, preferably with Terraform, is preferred.
  • Experience developing and supporting Docker applications is preferred.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, OpenShift, or comparable container-orchestration platforms is preferred.
  • Experience with large, complex databases, preferably Oracle, is preferred.
  • Experience with data modeling and database design is preferred.
  • Experience working in production environments is preferred.
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools is preferred.
  • Understanding of service mesh architectures and related technologies is preferred.
  • Familiarity with static code-analysis tools such as Coverity is preferred.
  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information technology, or a related field is preferred.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Canadian Secret Level II security clearance.
