Senior DevOps and SRE Tech Lead, Observability at BigDataCorp (Remote, Brazil)

Lead DevOps and SRE observability initiatives for BigDataCorp, a major Latin American data technology company. Own infrastructure, automation, and engineering mentorship across AWS and Kubernetes.

Description

  • Design, deploy, and maintain telemetry infrastructure spanning OpenTelemetry Collectors, metrics, logs, traces agents, aggregators, and visualization tools
  • Maintain high availability across the observability platform
  • Set up application and infrastructure data collection, then define actionable Alertmanager and Incident.io rules
  • Operate an Observability-as-a-Service model that reduces alert noise for development teams
  • Design, run, and improve AWS infrastructure through infrastructure as code
  • Manage production Kubernetes clusters with attention to scalability, security, and cost efficiency
  • Build and refine continuous delivery pipelines while removing repetitive operational tasks
  • Lead the infrastructure and platform team, manage its backlog, delegate work, and mentor engineers
  • Align technical priorities through negotiation with development and product teams

Requirements

  • Extensive experience with public cloud platforms, ideally AWS
  • Advanced knowledge of Kubernetes and container technologies such as Docker and containerd
  • Substantial experience operating and supporting distributed, highly available production systems
  • Demonstrated ability to deploy and configure observability platforms through code using IaC and Helm
  • Strong expertise with Prometheus Operator, OpenTelemetry Collector, Grafana Stack tools such as Loki, Tempo, and Mimir, or platforms including Datadog, New Relic, and Dynatrace
  • Experience managing telemetry retention policies and associated costs
  • Ability to design cloud architectures that are resilient and scalable
  • Systems-level understanding of the software development lifecycle to improve developer experience
  • Deep knowledge of how observability data is generated, collected, processed, and stored
  • Experience with incident response procedures
  • Experience facilitating agile ceremonies and managing delivery for a small technical team, or a strong aptitude for doing so
  • Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Pulumi, or equivalent
  • Ability to automate operational work with Python, Go, or advanced Bash
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with tools such as GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins
  • Ability to explain technical debt and infrastructure risk in business terms and negotiate priorities
  • Composure and resilience when making rapid decisions during incidents
  • A mentorship-focused, servant-leadership approach
  • Pragmatism when balancing architectural quality with business needs
  • Nice to have: Argo CD, Flux, Istio, or Linkerd; FinOps; eBPF tools such as Cilium or Pixie; log sampling and aggregation or discarding; DevSecOps, OPA/Gatekeeper, and software supply-chain security; CKA or AWS Solutions Architect certification, or equivalent
  • Advanced technical English for reading, conversation, and leading vendor and global-team forums
