Senior Database Administrator — SQL Server and PostgreSQL
Manage SQL Server and PostgreSQL environments for Banco Mercantil’s technology hub, with responsibility for database performance, availability, security, and capacity.
Description
- Work with the architecture team to define information storage structures, plan capacity, and prepare work plans focused on database performance and availability.
- Establish and implement operational and security procedures for database management systems.
- Install, configure, and maintain complex database software and related tools.
- Monitor computing environments, identify failures, and troubleshoot database issues.
- Assess and recommend database technologies according to business needs and cost-benefit considerations.
- Create project work plans that address risks, internal guidelines, resources, materials, quality, and compliance.
- Plan capacity for database environments.
- Manage software licenses to maintain compliance, and recommend improvements or new acquisitions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Substantial database administration experience in on-premises or low-platform environments running Windows and Linux, especially with SQL Server and PostgreSQL.
- Experience monitoring environments and managing capacity.
- Knowledge of routine automation.
- Ability to interpret environment monitoring metrics.
- Experience with CDC-based replication tools is preferred.
- Postgraduate study and certifications or courses in PostgreSQL and SQL Server are preferred.
