Senior Data Engineer in Fortaleza (Hybrid)

Senior Data Engineer responsible for building data lakes, data warehouses, and pipelines for a Brazilian exam-preparation company. Leads data governance, quality, and AWS infrastructure.

Description

  • Design Vício’s data architecture, including the data lake, data warehouse, and analytical models, around business requirements.
  • Integrate and model data from Marketing, CRM, Sales, Finance, and other functions through reliable pipelines using APIs, webhooks, and varied sources.
  • Define data governance, quality, documentation, and security practices, while establishing standards that support team knowledge sharing.
  • Guide technical decisions by setting standards, reviewing solutions, and advising analysts and data and automation specialists.
  • Track and improve infrastructure performance, cost efficiency, security, and reliability through AWS best practices and compliance with Brazil’s LGPD.
  • Continuously develop CI/CD, version control, documentation, and observability practices for data pipelines and models.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated production experience with data modeling, including dimensional modeling, Data Vault, or comparable methods.
  • Experience creating or modernizing cloud-based data architectures.
  • Strong Python and SQL skills applied to data engineering.
  • Hands-on AWS experience, particularly with S3, Glue, Redshift, Athena, Lambda, CloudWatch, and IAM.
  • Experience using Airflow or Step Functions together with dbt.
  • Experience introducing CI/CD for data pipelines and models.
  • Working knowledge of data governance, quality management, catalogs, lineage, and access controls.
  • Experience connecting REST APIs and webhooks.
  • Ability to act as a technical authority through standards definition, code reviews, mentoring, and clear communication of technical decisions to business stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with information governance, including lifecycle management, retention, classification, and policies aligned with Brazil’s LGPD is a plus.
  • Advanced academic or research experience in data, such as a master’s degree, doctorate, publications, or participation in research groups, is a plus.
  • Located in Fortaleza, Ceará, or the surrounding metropolitan area.
