Senior Data Analyst, Data Governance at Walmart

Own Walmart’s People data governance framework by improving definitions, metadata, quality, and stewardship. Help enable compliant analytics and reliable workforce insights for data and AI initiatives.

Description

  • Define and maintain business terms, data definitions, metadata, and governance standards
  • Work with data owners, stewards, and stakeholders to increase governance adoption and meet enterprise policy requirements
  • Identify data quality issues, coordinate remediation, and resolve root causes affecting critical data assets
  • Support data classification, certification, lineage, ownership, and access governance activities
  • Conduct governance reviews and assess proposed changes against established standards
  • Create governance communications and deliver training for relevant stakeholders
  • Advance data literacy, stewardship accountability, and confidence in core data foundations
  • Work with business and technical partners to turn operational challenges into data-informed solutions
  • Provide data support for strategic decisions across multiple business domains
  • Strengthen data integrity, streamline processes, and deliver measurable improvements

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, statistics, economics, analytics, mathematics, arts, finance, or a related field plus two years of experience in data analysis, data science, statistics, or a related area; alternatively, a relevant master’s degree or four years of related experience
  • Deep experience with data management, data quality, and data governance practices
  • Proficiency in data profiling, cleansing, and stewardship methods
  • Strong understanding of database technologies, including SQL and NoSQL systems
  • Ability to identify suitable data sources for business needs and conduct initial quality evaluations
  • Advanced knowledge of data visualization tools and methods
  • Experience applying data strategy to business goals and decision-making
  • Proven ability to work across functions and convert business requirements into data-driven solutions
  • Familiarity with project management and facilitation practices
  • Preferred background in data science, data analysis, statistics, or a related discipline
  • Preferred experience in a related industry such as retail, merchandising, healthcare, or eCommerce
  • Preferred successful completion of assessments involving data analysis, business intelligence tools, or scripting languages such as SQL, Python, Spark, Scala, R, Power BI, or Tableau
