Senior Coding Auditor - Chennai Hybrid

EXL is seeking a Senior Coding Auditor to conduct clinical validation and outpatient surgery coding audits in a hybrid Chennai role. The position focuses on coding accuracy, quality and production goals, and HIPAA/OIG compliance.

Description

  • Conduct clinical validation audits and review medical records to capture all applicable coding
  • Adhere to all standard operating procedures
  • Complete assigned audits accurately and to quality standards
  • Meet established quality and production targets
  • Comply with project-specific procedures and directions
  • Escalate concerns and recognize emerging trends
  • Maintain daily productivity, clarification, and other required logs
  • Consult the Manager or Team Lead when clarification is needed
  • Reply promptly to all emails from Managers
  • Use sound problem-solving abilities in audit work
  • Support team compliance with HIPAA and OIG requirements

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Nursing
  • Active NCLEX certification as a USRN
  • Maintain active status for all required certifications and licenses
  • Degree in life sciences or a paramedical field
  • CPC or CPMA certification
  • At least 3 years of post-certification experience in multispecialty surgery coding, including IVR, general surgery, infusion and injection, and radiation oncology
  • Experience with APC facility coding
  • Ability to analyze records and apply critical thinking during reviews
  • Broad clinical knowledge supported by substantial clinical experience
  • Computer proficiency
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to understand and comply with the telecommuter policy
  • High-speed broadband internet access at home
  • Availability to work from 8:00 PM IST to 5:00 PM IST, depending on project requirements
