Senior Cloud Native Data Operations Engineer

Description

  • Design and operate production workloads across Kubernetes clusters.
  • Build self-healing, auto-scaling systems that reduce manual work and support uptime.
  • Run reliable SQL, NoSQL, and object storage platforms in Kubernetes environments.
  • Develop backup, disaster recovery, replication, and failover plans to meet RPO and RTO targets.
  • Troubleshoot and restore Kubernetes Persistent Volumes, StorageClasses, CSI drivers, and PVCs.
  • Improve storage performance and cost with tiering, hot and cold data separation, and S3 lifecycle policies.
  • Secure and scale MinIO and S3-compatible object storage for high-throughput data pipelines.
  • Manage block storage, including EBS, io2, and gp3, and shared file systems such as EFS and NFS.
  • Optimize networking, ingress and egress traffic, and service meshes for secure communication.
  • Promote GitOps and CI/CD practices with ArgoCD, Flux, and GitHub Actions.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and upgrades using Terraform, Helm, and Kubernetes Operators.
  • Deliver changes progressively through blue-green and canary releases and spot-instance rolling updates.
  • Manage monitoring and alerting with Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, VictoriaMetrics, and OpenSearch.
  • Lead incident response and post-incident reviews.
  • Make system health, performance, and cost metrics visible.
  • Apply least-privilege IAM, secure service-to-service communication, and network ACLs and firewalls.
  • Enforce Kubernetes RBAC, secrets management, and secure image supply chains.
  • Support audit readiness and compliance work.
  • Analyze and tune CPU, memory, and I/O performance at scale.
  • Work with product and platform teams to right-size clusters, databases, and storage tiers.
  • Create cost-visibility dashboards for engineering leaders.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of experience in SRE, DevOps, or infrastructure engineering.
  • Deep Kubernetes expertise, including multi-cluster operations, Helm chart development, and advanced networking.
  • Strong GitOps workflow experience with ArgoCD or Flux.
  • Expertise with AWS preferred, or Azure or GCP, and infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform, Pulumi, or CloudFormation.
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases, including MySQL or Aurora, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Redis.
  • Automation and scripting skills in Python, Bash, or Go.
  • Strong monitoring and observability experience with tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, ELK or OpenSearch, and VictoriaMetrics.
  • Experience with large-scale CI/CD and production incident management.
  • Experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar streaming and messaging systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience running mission-critical, high-traffic, multi-region systems is preferred.
  • Demonstrated cloud and Kubernetes cost optimization is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Istio, Linkerd, or advanced networking and egress control is preferred.
  • Experience with data platform components such as Airflow, Debezium, or ClickHouse is helpful but not required.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across engineering, DevOps, security, and product teams.
