Senior Civil Designer, Renewable Energy (Remote)

Lead Civil 3D design for Ulteig’s utility-scale solar, wind, and energy storage projects. Coordinate multidisciplinary construction packages from development through construction.

Description

  • Provide technical direction as an assigned Civil Design Lead or Discipline Lead without direct supervisory responsibility.
  • Lead civil design for complex utility-scale solar, wind, and energy storage projects.
  • Develop and coordinate construction drawing packages covering site layouts, grading, drainage, stormwater, access roads, utilities, erosion and sediment control, and earthwork quantities.
  • Use AutoCAD Civil 3D to create and maintain surfaces, alignments, profiles, corridors, grading models, utility layouts, and related design elements.
  • Convert engineering concepts, criteria, calculations, surveys, and technical data into coordinated, constructible documents.
  • Lead internal and client design meetings while communicating decisions, risks, conflicts, and recommended solutions.
  • Deliver complex design work and coordinate or delegate suitable tasks to designers, technicians, and junior engineers.
  • Review models, calculations, redlines, shop drawings, revisions, and deliverables for accuracy, consistency, constructability, and compliance.
  • Apply quality-control procedures, checklists, CADD standards, and project requirements while owning design quality.
  • Coordinate with engineers, project managers, surveyors, contractors, and other disciplines to identify and resolve conflicts early.
  • Support schedule and budget performance by planning work, tracking progress, and improving design efficiency.
  • Engage directly with multiple clients to clarify needs, explain technical information, and support responsive delivery.
  • Mentor designers, technicians, and junior engineers in Civil 3D, design practices, quality, constructability, and efficient workflows.
  • Create and enhance CADD standards, details, templates, tools, procedures, and workflows.
  • Share specialized expertise through training, presentations, mentoring, and technical content.

Requirements

  • Associate or technical degree in civil engineering technology, drafting, design, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Typically at least 10 years of progressively responsible civil design experience in consulting engineering, EPC, land development, or infrastructure.
  • Substantial experience supporting utility-scale renewable energy, utility infrastructure, or other large site-development projects.
  • Advanced AutoCAD and Civil 3D proficiency, including surfaces, grading, alignments, profiles, corridors, pipe networks, plan production, and quantity calculations.
  • Proven experience producing large-scale site layouts, grading, drainage, stormwater, access roads, utilities, erosion and sediment control, earthwork, and construction plans.
  • Experience leading civil design packages and coordinating designers, technicians, or junior engineers.
  • Ability to interpret surveys, design criteria, engineering calculations, geotechnical data, hydrology and hydraulic information, specifications, and permitting requirements.
  • Experience checking deliverables for accuracy, consistency, constructability, graphical quality, project compliance, and adherence to CADD standards.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and technical communication abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize work and produce quality deliverables across multiple projects.
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with clients, engineers, project managers, surveyors, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Willingness and ability to mentor developing team members and contribute to design standards and continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Permanent authorization to work in the United States.
