Senior CICS Systems Programmer, Infrastructure Engineering (Connecticut Remote)

Lead CICS infrastructure engineering for The Cigna Group’s enterprise IBM mainframe environment. Shape resilient, high-availability systems and guide critical healthcare technology initiatives.

Description

  • Design, engineer, and implement complex CICS infrastructure solutions aligned with enterprise objectives.
  • Provide technical direction for large-scale mainframe programs from strategic planning through delivery.
  • Build, operate, and continually enhance highly available CICS environments across the enterprise.
  • Collaborate with application developers and infrastructure partners to deliver secure, scalable, dependable solutions.
  • Assess emerging technologies and recommend improvements to performance, resilience, and operational efficiency.
  • Investigate complex infrastructure and application problems, determine root causes, and deliver durable fixes.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and tune CICS and related system software.
  • Advise and support a broad application development organization on technical matters.
  • Join the on-call rotation and respond to critical production incidents when required.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of CICS systems programming experience in enterprise mainframe environments.
  • Advanced understanding of CICS architecture, internals, administration, and performance tuning.
  • Extensive experience supporting and administering CICSPlex environments.
  • Practical experience with z/OS, DB2 Data Sharing, MQ Shared Queue Managers, and REXX.
  • Ability to resolve complex system and application problems and implement effective solutions.
  • Experience leading technical initiatives and coordinating work across multiple teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical subjects to varied audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and contribute effectively within large, cross-functional teams.
  • Willingness and ability to support a 24x7 production environment with scheduled on-call duties.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline preferred.
