Senior Backend Software Engineer – New Delhi (Hybrid)
Lead the development and operation of Java and Python backend services supporting IoT, order, and payment systems. Improve distributed architecture, reliability, scalability, observability, and production performance.
Description
- Build, enhance, and maintain large-scale backend services for IoT, proprietary, order, and payment management systems
- Produce clean, efficient, and dependable Java and Python code
- Improve production systems for performance, scalability, availability, and fault tolerance
- Investigate and resolve complex issues across services, databases, caches, and messaging systems
- Apply low-level and high-level design principles to new features and system enhancements
- Develop reliable data flows across event-driven and asynchronous architectures
- Optimize database schemas, queries, indexes, and caching for high-throughput workloads
- Collaborate with Infrastructure, QA, and Product teams to support continuous production operations
- Maintain production health through monitoring, alerting, performance tuning, and observability
- Lead incident response and root-cause analysis for critical failures
- Implement preventive improvements that reduce incident frequency and impact
- Keep systems within service-level agreements under high-volume production conditions
- Contribute to code reviews, design reviews, and incident post-mortems
- Own backend components across design, implementation, deployment, and production support
- Strengthen engineering practices through reviews, documentation, and knowledge sharing
- Report to the Head of Infrastructure
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
- At least three years of experience building and maintaining backend systems in production
- Advanced Java and Python skills with practical microservices experience
- Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and structured problem solving
- Experience developing and integrating RESTful APIs and asynchronous systems
- Proven ability to debug and troubleshoot live production environments
- Familiarity with testing, code review, CI/CD, release management, and other software engineering practices
- Effective communication and collaborative teamwork skills
- Practical experience with Kafka or a comparable messaging or event-streaming platform
- Understanding of distributed systems, microservices, and scaling approaches
- Production experience with Kubernetes
- Experience using AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
- Experience with Redis caching strategies, including cache invalidation
- Familiarity with SRE or platform engineering practices
