Senior AWS Cloud Migration Architect – United States Remote

Lead AWS Migration Acceleration Program assessments and Mobilize planning for public-sector customers. Shape secure landing zones, migration roadmaps, pilot initiatives, and delivery-ready implementation handoffs.

Description

  • Lead AWS MAP Assess and Mobilize engagements from initial discovery through executive and technical recommendations
  • Assess business objectives, organizational readiness, application portfolios, infrastructure, dependencies, security, compliance, costs, licensing, and migration risks
  • Validate discovery findings and recommend workload dispositions, migration groupings, pilots, waves, and business-case inputs
  • Architect secure, resilient, and cost-conscious AWS and AWS GovCloud target environments and landing zones
  • Define requirements for multi-account structures, identity, networking, security, observability, backup, recovery, governance, automation, hybrid connectivity, and operating models
  • Create architecture diagrams and decision records that capture alternatives, constraints, tradeoffs, assumptions, and risks
  • Develop actionable roadmaps covering workstreams, owners, milestones, dependencies, estimates, and acceptance criteria
  • Establish migration and modernization strategies, workload patterns, wave plans, testing, cutover, rollback, and validation methods
  • Plan and support pilots that verify architectural, connectivity, security, tooling, and operational assumptions
  • Prepare implementation-ready handoff packages and guide delivery teams on designs, sequencing, risks, and acceptance requirements
  • Review estimates and implementation plans while serving as the architecture authority for high-risk decisions and readiness reviews
  • Build or validate AWS proof-of-concept environments and infrastructure-as-code implementations
  • Test account structures, identity, connectivity, DNS, security, logging, monitoring, backup, recovery, and migration tooling
  • Resolve complex design and migration-planning challenges, review partner deliverables, and develop reusable patterns and standards
  • Qualify MAP opportunities and define proposal and statement-of-work scope, assumptions, staffing, schedules, deliverables, and acceptance criteria
  • Coordinate with customers, AWS, distributors, and specialist partners while keeping program documentation accurate and auditable
  • Develop repeatable methods, templates, architecture patterns, quality standards, and handoff procedures
  • Peer-review delivery artifacts, preserve evidence and decisions, support partner transparency and knowledge transfer, and mentor internal engineers

Requirements

  • Active AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional certification
  • At least eight years of experience in infrastructure or cloud architecture, systems engineering, application migration, professional services, or related technical delivery, including at least five recent years working hands-on with AWS
  • Demonstrated leadership of AWS MAP Assess engagements and the architecture and planning phases of MAP Mobilize engagements
  • Experience creating portfolio assessments, business-case inputs, target architectures, migration strategies, wave plans, roadmaps, and implementation-ready handoffs
  • Hands-on production migration and pilot experience with landing zones, multi-account environments, identity, hybrid networking, security, observability, backup, recovery, governance, migration tools, and infrastructure as code
  • Strong knowledge of Windows, Linux, VMware, networking, storage, identity, relational databases, backup, monitoring, and hybrid-cloud integration
  • Ability to lead executive and technical workshops and deliver clear diagrams, plans, estimates, decisions, and recommendations
  • Strong technical writing, analytical, presentation, facilitation, troubleshooting, estimation, and risk-communication abilities
  • Ability to travel as required
  • U.S. citizenship
  • Ability to satisfy applicable public-sector background, public-trust, or clearance requirements
  • Preferred: Additional AWS Professional or Specialty certifications and experience with MAP Migrate or Modernize
  • Preferred: AWS GovCloud and public-sector or regulated-industry experience, including NIST, FedRAMP, FISMA, StateRAMP, CJIS, HIPAA, or PCI DSS
  • Preferred: Experience with major enterprise platforms, AWS migration and governance services, dependency mapping, cloud economics, licensing, FinOps, and total cost of ownership
  • Preferred: Consulting, professional-services, customer-facing architecture, senior presales, reusable delivery-method, or partner-led team experience
