Senior Accountant - Hybrid, Florida

GuideWell Source is seeking a Senior Accountant to oversee financial reporting, reconciliations, compliance, and audit support for Florida Blue. This hybrid role also includes mentoring junior accounting staff.

Description

  • Prepare and review balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and other financial reports.
  • Evaluate financial data and develop recommendations for management.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulations.
  • Oversee and reconcile high-volume, complex general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare and process complex journal entries.
  • Work with external auditors and assist with audit activities.
  • Supervise and coach junior accounting team members.
  • Offer accounting guidance and technical support to other departments.
  • Monitor updates to accounting standards and regulations and apply required changes.
  • Oversee accounting operations and financial functions.
  • Keep financial records complete and accurate.

Requirements

  • At least five years of experience in accounting.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while managing competing priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Experience using accounting software and financial systems.
  • Careful attention to detail and consistent ability to meet deadlines.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Willingness and ability to travel between multiple work locations.
  • CPA certification is preferred.
  • Public accounting experience is preferred.
  • Prior management experience is preferred.
  • Experience with statutory accounting and reporting is preferred.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft general ledger is preferred.
  • Experience with Infor general ledger is preferred.
  • Experience with Hyperion Financial Management is preferred.
  • Experience retrieving and reporting data through SmartView ad hoc grids is preferred.
  • Experience with Oracle general ledger is preferred.
  • Experience building financial models is preferred.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, changing environment is preferred.
