Roadway CADD Designer — Phoenix, AZ

Create roadway designs and construction plan sets for municipal and state projects at TYPSA US. Coordinate roadway plans with traffic, drainage, structures, and utilities teams.

Description

  • Support transportation designers with project designs and construction documents.
  • Contribute to municipal and state street, highway, and freeway design and production.
  • Develop roadway, roadside drainage, and utility designs with guidance from senior design and project staff.
  • Prepare and review project plans and digital deliverables.
  • Develop roadway plans and coordinate them with traffic, drainage, structures, and utilities teams.
  • Create plan, profile, typical section, detail, and cross-section sheets.
  • Design roadway geometry, including horizontal and vertical alignments.
  • Prepare quantity takeoffs and construction cost estimates.
  • Produce detailed plan sets across design submissions and quality-control reviews.
  • Build effective working relationships and contribute to a positive project team.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least five years of civil or related experience.
  • Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Roadway design experience on municipal and freeway projects in Arizona.
  • Ability to interpret utility records and schematics and create accurate utility base files at ASCE Quality Levels C/D.
  • Experience preparing roadway plan, profile, typical section, detail, and cross-section sheets.
  • Experience developing roadway geometry, including horizontal and vertical alignments.
  • Experience creating existing-conditions and proposed-design base files.
  • Experience incorporating survey, utility, right-of-way, and aerial data into roadway plans.
  • Experience preparing quantity takeoffs and construction estimates from design plans.
  • Experience coordinating roadway plans with traffic, drainage, structures, and utilities disciplines.
  • Experience with red-to-black plan production and quality-control procedures.
  • Experience preparing plans for 30%, 60%, 90%, and 100% design submissions.
  • Experience with pavement preservation and rehabilitation, widening, intersection upgrades, new roadway construction, and ADA improvements.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Planning, scheduling, organization, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with project teammates.
  • ProjectWise experience is a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet the company insurer’s insurability requirements.
