Research Attorney - Oklahoma (Remote)

Research Attorney supporting trucking litigation, catastrophic injury, and wrongful death cases for a national law firm. The role focuses on legal research, litigation writing, regulatory analysis, and trial strategy support.

Description

  • Perform detailed legal research involving trucking litigation, catastrophic injuries, wrongful death, and related matters
  • Research and assess federal and state trucking rules, including FMCSA regulations, safety standards, and compliance obligations
  • Review and interpret case law, statutes, regulations, administrative rulings, and other legal authorities across applicable jurisdictions
  • Draft research memoranda, case assessments, briefs, motions, pleadings, and other legal work product
  • Evaluate complex legal and factual questions, identifying relevant authorities, arguments, risks, and additional research needs
  • Support discovery and litigation research by reviewing accident reports, medical records, corporate documents, deposition transcripts, and other case materials
  • Contribute to legal theories and case strategy through focused research and written analysis
  • Investigate trucking operations, driver qualifications, hours of service, maintenance, safety procedures, electronic logging devices, and carrier policies
  • Track changes in trucking law, regulations, safety standards, and significant judicial decisions
  • Create and maintain well-organized research resources with reliable citations and source records
  • Deliver timely research and drafting assistance for depositions, hearings, motions, mediation, and trial
  • Work collaboratively with attorneys, paralegals, experts, and other team members
  • Manage assignments, deadlines, and research projects in a non-billable hourly role
  • Advance the Firm’s trial-first approach through careful, practical, and well-supported legal analysis

Requirements

  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Active Oklahoma bar license or the ability to obtain admission in due course
  • Three to six years of legal practice experience, including substantial legal research and writing
  • Strong research, writing, analytical, organizational, and communication abilities
  • Ability to find, assess, synthesize, and clearly explain complex legal authorities
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a consistent record of accurate, well-supported written work
  • Ability to manage multiple research assignments and deadlines in a remote setting
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with attorneys and other team members
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for Firm meetings, litigation support, and training
  • Active Oklahoma license and ability to obtain admission in Missouri are advantageous
  • Plaintiff-side personal injury, catastrophic injury, wrongful death, or trucking litigation experience is advantageous
  • Federal judicial clerkship experience is advantageous
  • Familiarity with federal and state trucking regulations, including FMCSA rules, is advantageous
  • Complex legal research experience involving litigation or trial preparation is advantageous
  • Experience drafting legal memoranda, motions, briefs, or appellate materials is advantageous
  • Experience researching commercial motor carriers, truck drivers, trucking safety, or transportation regulations is advantageous
  • Trial or litigation-support experience is advantageous
