Remote Accounting Manager, Percentage-of-Completion Revenue Recognition

Description

  • Implement percentage-of-completion accounting for existing ARP brands and newly acquired operating companies
  • Reconstruct historical percentage-of-completion accounting from each brand’s acquisition date through the current period
  • Reconcile historical percentage-of-completion accounting with the general ledger and opening balance sheet
  • Set percentage-of-completion timelines and readiness checkpoints for incoming acquisitions
  • Find and resolve gaps in source data, job setup, cost coding, and accounting workflows
  • Oversee job costing across ARP brands
  • Review cost accruals and period-end cutoff procedures
  • Investigate cost overruns, unbilled costs, missing charges, and other variances
  • Review job statuses and percentage-complete calculations
  • Evaluate final margins and report material variances and trends
  • Monitor contract assets and liabilities
  • Manage monthly percentage-of-completion accounting schedules across all ARP brands
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and audit-ready schedules and supporting documentation
  • Develop and document SOPs for percentage-of-completion accounting, job costing, and job status reviews
  • Standardize percentage-of-completion methods, workflows, and templates
  • Develop training materials and support accounting staff
  • Recommend process and system enhancements across AccuLynx, QuickBooks Online, Power BI, and other platforms
  • Train and mentor Senior Accountants
  • Review accounting schedules and deliver feedback and coaching
  • Set accountability for percentage-of-completion schedules and close deadlines
  • Partner with corporate and operating-company teams, Operations, executives, auditors, and lenders

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline
  • At least six years of progressive accounting experience
  • At least three years of direct experience with percentage-of-completion revenue recognition
  • Strong knowledge of ASC 606 for construction or long-term contracts
  • Practical experience with job costing, WIP schedules, and overbilling or underbilling analysis
  • Experience reviewing accounting professionals’ work and training team members
  • Advanced Excel capability, including large datasets, lookups, pivot tables, and complex financial schedules
  • Strong knowledge of month-end close procedures
  • Ability to evaluate job-level financial data and identify discrepancies or unusual trends
  • Ability to work effectively in a remote, multi-entity environment
  • Willingness to travel to operating-company locations less than 10% of the time
