Product Development Software Testing Intern

Ford Motor Company is seeking a software testing intern to develop embedded vehicle software skills with AUTOSAR Classic, MATLAB/Simulink, and C. The role supports testing stations and software functions for climate, lighting, locking, and other vehicle systems.

Description

  • Learn AUTOSAR Classic software development with MATLAB/Simulink and/or C
  • Assist with reviewing functional requirements for software designs
  • Support test-bench assembly and design using welding and joining tools
  • Learn the issue-management process
  • Assist with software function testing on virtual and physical hardware
  • Set up testing stations with breadboards, modules, cables, and related hardware
  • Develop control algorithms and vehicle-feature code for climate, starting, locking, lighting, alarms, windows, powered enclosures, and seats
  • Own and review software requirements
  • Create high-level functional specifications
  • Produce quality MATLAB/Simulink or C code in an AUTOSAR Classic environment
  • Participate in design reviews, vehicle and breadboard software root-cause analysis, and unit testing

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing an engineering degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification
  • Understanding of embedded hardware and software design
  • Basic knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink, Jira, and GitHub; Jama knowledge is a plus
  • Programming ability in Python and C++
  • Familiarity with or understanding of CAN/Ethernet tools, AUTOSAR, and functional safety under ISO 26262
  • Ability to work with Arduino or microcontrollers
