Principal Systems Engineer – Airborne Platforms (Onsite)

Lead systems engineering, integration, and verification for UH/HH-60 Black Hawk cockpit programs. The role supports Collins Aerospace aerospace and defense projects through testing, requirements work, and customer engagement.

Description

  • Support multiple airborne-platform programs, including domestic and international UH/HH-60 Black Hawk cockpit variants
  • Develop and execute laboratory functional tests using simulations and interfacing subsystems to verify software requirements
  • Assist with analyzing and documenting system requirements
  • Contribute to system and subsystem design activities
  • Define software requirements for assigned systems
  • Carry out system and software integration activities
  • Conduct formal tests to verify requirements
  • Collaborate with systems and software engineers in accordance with Collins Aerospace engineering processes
  • Engage directly with customers through presentations, technical discussions, and on-site support
  • Travel within the United States and internationally as needed

Requirements

  • A STEM degree with at least eight years of relevant experience, or an advanced related degree with at least five years of experience, is typically required
  • Communicate effectively and professionally
  • Be available and authorized to travel domestically and internationally
  • Work effectively in teams and build cooperative relationships with colleagues
  • Deliver consistently strong results, maintain project schedules, and support a positive workplace
  • Experience with SVN, DOORS, Python, and/or Atlassian tools
  • Familiarity with CMMI- or DO-178-based processes
  • Knowledge of model-based systems engineering practices
  • Experience conducting formal and functional testing
  • Knowledge of flight displays, communication and navigation radio controls, flight management systems, weapons and mission equipment, and human factors or human-machine interfaces
  • Knowledge of Ethernet (IEEE 802.3), TCP/IP, MIL-STD-1553B, and ARINC-429 digital data protocols
  • U.S. citizenship is required because only U.S. citizens may access information under this program or contract; an active DoD Confidential security clearance is required after day one.
