Principal Supplier Quality and Development Specialist, Engineered Items

Lead supplier quality development for engineered items at RTX, supporting supplier qualification, corrective action, PPAP, and continuous improvement across aerospace operations.

Description

  • Manage supplier qualification, certification, assessment, monitoring, escape management, and quality issue resolution.
  • Analyze quality data and recommend corrective actions tailored to suppliers and parts.
  • Research and explain root cause analysis and problem-solving methods, including Red-X and 8D.
  • Develop corrective and preventive actions for systemic process and product design issues in supplier products.
  • Conduct supplier qualification, certification, source inspections, material releases, Corrective Action Boards, and DQ Clinics.
  • Support the UTC Supplier Gold program and its continuous improvement and sustainability efforts.
  • Review processes and metrics, recommending improvements to meet work transfer and process change requirements.
  • Support Resourcing Gate reviews and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) acceptance.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and internal engineering partners to resolve complex problems.
  • Support supplier onboarding, certification, source inspections, and operational readiness.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a university degree and at least five years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related field and at least three years of experience.
  • Strong background in engineered items.
  • Experience working with suppliers or engineering in supply chain operations, including supplier or operations monitoring, auditing, or development, or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of quality regulations and quality core tools.
  • Knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP).
  • Practical problem-solving knowledge.
  • Knowledge of international management system standards and applicable authorities, regulations, and standards.
  • Knowledge of quality management systems (QMS).
  • Knowledge of auditing and assessment.
  • Knowledge of risk management and continuous improvement methods, such as Lean Six Sigma, is desirable.
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering, industrial engineering, or a similar field is preferred.
  • Equivalent work experience may be accepted in place of education.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
