Principal Solutions Architect, Government – AT&T, Chantilly, VA

Lead secure enterprise network, cloud, and cybersecurity architecture for AT&T Global Public Sector federal government programs in Chantilly, Virginia.

Description

  • Lead the program’s overall solution architecture.
  • Partner with the Chief Engineer to develop and maintain the technical vision, architecture roadmap, and engineering strategy.
  • Define and maintain the enterprise architecture framework for the FENS solution.
  • Integrate network, security, cloud, OSS/BSS, monitoring, automation, service management, and operational platforms.
  • Assess architectural options and conduct technical trade studies to guide engineering decisions.
  • Set architecture standards, design patterns, and engineering best practices.
  • Lead architecture boards and technical design reviews.
  • Align functional and operational requirements with technical implementation approaches.
  • Coordinate solution architecture work across all engineering disciplines.
  • Support requirements analysis, system decomposition, interface definition, and technical allocation.
  • Identify technical risks and develop mitigation plans for complex architecture challenges.
  • Collaborate with security, engineering, testing, and operations teams to confirm design readiness and operational supportability.
  • Verify solution scalability, resilience, security, maintainability, and performance objectives.
  • Support transition planning and operational readiness efforts.
  • Deliver executive-level technical briefings and architecture recommendations to program leaders and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Eligible for the customer-specific security clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, information systems, telecommunications, or a related technical discipline.
  • At least 15 years of experience designing and integrating large-scale enterprise IT, telecommunications, cloud, or network solutions.
  • Experience serving as lead architect for complex federal programs.
  • Proven experience developing enterprise architecture frameworks and integrated technical solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of network architecture, cloud platforms, cybersecurity, automation, and service management systems.
  • Experience supporting large-scale network modernization and digital transformation programs.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain the required government security clearances.
  • A master’s degree in engineering, computer science, information systems, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience with enterprise telecommunications, managed network services, and SD-WAN architectures is preferred.
  • Knowledge of cloud architecture, network transformation, IT service management, and automation platforms is preferred.
  • Familiarity with systems engineering lifecycle methods and enterprise architecture frameworks is preferred.
  • TOGAF, CISSP, AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Architect, PMP, or equivalent professional certification is preferred.
