Principal Functional Safety Architect - NXP, Munich

Lead functional safety architecture for NXP automotive and industrial SoCs, platforms, and IP. Drive ISO 26262 and IEC 61508 analysis, assessment, and lifecycle compliance.

Description

  • Deliver advanced functional safety platform and IP solutions for automotive and industrial products in compliance with ISO 26262 and IEC 61508.
  • Define safety requirements for platform and IP modules.
  • Oversee SEooC platform and IP modules throughout their lifecycle in collaboration with internal design teams.
  • Prepare safety modules for functional safety assessments.
  • Support SoC integration of safety platforms and IP, including implementation of IP assumptions of use.
  • Conduct FMEDA, FTA, DFA, and fault-injection analyses.
  • Contribute to NXP's functional safety expert community by improving processes, safety features, and customer-facing communication of those features.
  • Define platform, IP, and safety-feature roadmaps aligned with the functional architecture.
  • Collaborate with internal and external IP teams to define and deliver ISO 26262-compliant IP.
  • Report compliance status, gaps, and mitigation actions to management.
  • Help SoC teams integrate safety platforms, IP, and their assumptions of use.

Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of ISO 26262 and IEC 61508.
  • Experience developing complex SoCs and IP in accordance with ISO 26262 Part 11.
  • Experience conducting or supporting safety audits and assessments.
  • Experience with safety analysis methods including FTA, DFA, FMEDA, and fault injection.
  • Demonstrated success leading functional safety development for IP, subsystems, or SoCs across all lifecycle phases while ensuring compliance with applicable safety standards.
  • Bachelor of Technology in Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a comparable discipline, with at least 10 years of relevant experience.
  • A master's degree in Electronics Engineering or Computer Engineering, with at least 8 years of experience, is preferred.
