PHP Laravel Developer – Remote in the United States

Build and modernize internal web applications supporting Gray Media’s television and digital media operations. Maintain APIs, databases, workflows, and production systems in a remote role.

Description

  • Develop secure, dependable, maintainable web applications with PHP 8+ and Laravel.
  • Convert business needs into practical internal applications and workflow tools.
  • Coordinate work across multiple applications and projects as priorities change.
  • Improve and support applications that underpin daily company operations.
  • Modernize legacy PHP systems into maintainable Laravel solutions.
  • Create and maintain internal APIs, third-party integrations, and data workflows.
  • Design, optimize, and maintain MySQL databases for application workloads.
  • Build accessible, intuitive forms and interfaces with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Investigate and resolve production incidents and issues reported by users.
  • Work with stakeholders and teammates to turn business requirements into effective technical solutions.
  • Review code, provide technical guidance, and promote consistent security, quality, and maintainability practices.
  • Create unit and integration tests to verify functionality and reduce regressions.
  • Document application behavior, workflows, decisions, and implementation details.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of professional experience developing PHP applications.
  • At least 2 years of professional experience using Laravel.
  • Strong experience with relational databases, including MySQL.
  • Experience developing and consuming RESTful APIs.
  • Proficiency with Git and GitHub.
  • Solid command of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Experience deploying, supporting, and maintaining production applications.
  • Proven ability to investigate and diagnose production issues.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work across several concurrent projects.
  • Comfort operating in a fast-paced environment with changing requirements and priorities.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative team.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational abilities.
  • Familiarity with automated testing frameworks.
  • Experience maintaining or modernizing legacy applications is preferred, but not required.
  • Experience developing internal business systems, operational tools, or workflow applications is preferred, but not required.
  • Familiarity with background jobs, queues, and scheduled tasks is preferred, but not required.
  • Experience integrating third-party APIs and data providers is preferred, but not required.
  • Understanding of authentication and authorization concepts is preferred, but not required.
  • Exposure to AWS-hosted environments or cloud deployments is preferred, but not required.
