PHP Developer, Email Platform (Hostinger, Hybrid)

Join Hostinger’s email platform team to build scalable APIs, services, and email infrastructure. The role focuses on PHP and Laravel, with Go used for high-availability components.

Description

  • Build and operate high-performance public and private APIs and internal services
  • Develop authentication, provisioning, webhooks, WebSockets, webmail, contacts, calendar, and email migration systems
  • Create routing, policy, and spam-filtering systems
  • Manage features from discovery through deployment and post-release follow-up
  • Use PHP as the primary language and Go for high-scale, highly available components
  • Improve query performance and system efficiency across millions of mailboxes
  • Strengthen authentication, session handling, and security edge cases
  • Monitor production services with Grafana, Sentry, and alerting systems
  • Advance team tooling, automation, and technical documentation
  • Contribute to code reviews and promote stronger engineering practices
  • Partner with engineering, development, QA, Customer Support, Security, Network, Storage, and infrastructure teams
  • Contribute to platform architecture and development patterns

Requirements

  • Apply strong software engineering fundamentals
  • Use clean architecture and sound engineering judgment
  • Approach system design through consistency, latency, synchronous, and asynchronous trade-offs
  • Understand distributed event-driven systems, including queues, webhooks, retries, and idempotency
  • Demonstrate solid knowledge of databases, caches, and queues, including schema design and indexing
  • Apply REST API design practices such as versioning and backward compatibility
  • Bring day-to-day professional experience with PHP
  • Be willing to learn Go
  • Have experience with PHP and Laravel
  • Go experience is a plus
  • Familiarity with IMAP and SMTP is a plus
  • Experience with real-time systems such as WebSockets or pub/sub is a plus
  • Experience with RabbitMQ, Kafka/Redpanda, ClickHouse, or comparable message-queue and data-pipeline technologies is a plus; familiarity with AI coding assistants such as Cursor, Claude Code, or Copilot is also welcome.
