Part-Time Payroll Officer – UK Remote
Manage end-to-end payroll and pension administration for UK schools and multi-academy trusts. Deliver accurate, compliant payments and reporting while reducing customers’ administrative workload.
Description
- Oversee monthly payroll processing for an assigned portfolio of customers from initiation through completion
- Verify that all employees receive accurate payments by the required deadlines
- Keep payroll records current with applicable pay scales, pension and National Insurance rates, and tax thresholds
- Process payroll adjustments, including leaver holiday pay and statutory maternity and paternity payments
- Submit accurate payments and payroll reports to external parties, including HMRC
- Handle payroll data in accordance with GDPR and ISO 27001 data-protection requirements
Requirements
- Degree-level education and/or a relevant payroll qualification
- Prior experience processing payroll
- Experience in the education sector is advantageous
- Working knowledge of HMRC requirements, including tax, National Insurance, and statutory deductions
- Experience administering auto-enrolment pension schemes
- Proficiency with Google Workspace tools
- Ability to analyse and interpret data effectively
- Willingness to use AI proactively to improve work processes
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure
- Knowledge of the Local Government Pension Scheme or Teachers’ Pension Scheme is desirable
