Onsite Counselor Therapist - Akron, Ohio

Provide evidence-based substance use counseling and recovery support at BrightView’s Akron clinic. Manage therapy, treatment coordination, documentation, and collaborative patient care.

Description

  • Lead group therapy and conduct patient intake assessments according to clinic needs, caseload demands, and evidence-based practice
  • Deliver individual counseling sessions when appropriate
  • Support treatment planning and evaluate patient progress toward established goals
  • Coordinate care with the onsite multidisciplinary team
  • Record required treatment information accurately and promptly in the electronic health record
  • Follow all applicable regulatory and company compliance standards
  • Participate in required onsite meetings, supervision, multidisciplinary case meetings, and quarterly in-service training
  • Help train and onboard newly hired Counselor I team members
  • Train, onboard, and mentor counselors at the site or nearby clinics

Requirements

  • At least one year of experience as a Counselor I or in a comparable role
  • Two or more years of relevant experience preferred
  • Master’s degree or higher, in accordance with state regulations and requirements
  • Active clinical licensure meeting state requirements, with dependent licensure accepted at minimum
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities
  • Empathetic, compassionate approach to supporting patients through recovery
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse colleagues and patient populations
  • Collaborative approach in a multidisciplinary healthcare setting
  • Comfort using multiple technology systems for communication and clinical documentation
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office preferred
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 preferred
  • Experience with harm reduction is a plus
  • Ability to meet regulatory and company compliance standards
