Mid-Senior Concept Artist (Remote, Malaysia) — Keywords Studios

Create production-ready character, vehicle, environment, and prop concepts for Keywords Studios’ unannounced stylised game project. Help define its visual identity and guide its artistic direction.

Description

  • Create high-quality concept art for characters, vehicles, environments, props, and other important visual assets
  • Develop designs that reinforce the project’s stylised visual direction
  • Explore ideas through sketches, thumbnails, silhouettes, colour studies, and refined concepts
  • Partner with the Art Director to establish and preserve the project’s visual language
  • Deliver production-ready concepts with callouts, turnarounds, material details, and reference material
  • Produce paintovers and visual development solutions for 3D artists
  • Set visual benchmarks and help maintain the project’s quality standards
  • Use shape language, proportion, colour, value, composition, and visual hierarchy in stylised design
  • Collaborate with character, environment, vehicle, animation, and other art teams
  • Incorporate feedback through rapid iteration while preserving the core design intent
  • Contribute to defining and evolving the visual identity of an unannounced stylised game project

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience as a Concept Artist in games or a closely related entertainment field
  • A strong portfolio featuring high-quality stylised character, vehicle, and environment concepts
  • Advanced stylised design ability across shape language, silhouettes, colour, composition, and visual storytelling
  • Strong traditional drawing and digital painting capabilities
  • Ability to communicate visual ideas clearly and efficiently
  • Ability to develop work from initial ideation through polished, production-ready concepts
  • Solid understanding of form, perspective, anatomy, proportion, lighting, and colour theory
  • Ability to design visually compelling assets that remain practical for downstream 3D production
  • Willingness and ability to work across varied subject matter
  • Ability to interpret an Art Director’s direction and develop multiple solutions within an established style
  • Comfort working across disciplines and responding quickly to feedback
  • Experience contributing to a shipped game is preferred
  • Familiarity with 3D software or basic 3D workflows is advantageous
  • Valid working rights in Malaysia and Indonesia are required
  • Sponsorship and relocation support are not available
